LiveLink™ for Revit® Updates

For users of LiveLink™ for Revit®, COMSOL Multiphysics® version 6.1 now includes offline synchronization functionality, the ability to simplify curves and surfaces in imported geometry, and updated CAD file import to support the most recent CAD file versions. Read more about these updates below.

Offline Synchronization

The Offline synchronization functionality now enables synchronization between COMSOL Multiphysics® and LiveLink™ for Revit® when they are installed on different computers. This is useful in organizations where the two different software packages are being used by different individuals. Using the LiveLink™ add-in inside LiveLink™ for Revit®, you can save a synchronization file, which can contain one or more versions of a geometry. You can then load this synchronization file with the LiveLink™ feature into a COMSOL model.

Offline synchronization is available on all operating systems supported by the COMSOL Multiphysics® software. In addition to being installed by the COMSOL Multiphysics® installer, the LiveLink™ add-in is also installed via the free COMSOL Client installer, available for download here. Installing the LiveLink™ add-in with the COMSOL Client installer enables the functionality for preparing designs for synchronization, saving files for offline synchronization, and running simulation apps that synchronize geometry.

Simplifying Curves and Surfaces

The Import settings for 3D CAD files now include a Simplify curves and surfaces option that can be used to simplify the mathematical representation of the imported geometric entities. For example, spline curves can be converted to dedicated straight or circular curves. Importing objects with this option can improve the performance and reliability of downstream geometric operations.

Updated CAD File Import

The CAD file import functionality has been extended to support the most recent versions of the supported file formats. To see a current list of supported CAD file formats, please refer to the Read from File section of the CAD specification chart.
