LiveLink™ for AutoCAD® Updates

For users of LiveLink™ for AutoCAD®, COMSOL Multiphysics® version 6.1 includes a new Requested Parameters Preview window, the ability to simplify curves and surfaces in imported geometry, and updated CAD file import to support the most recent CAD file versions. Read more about these updates below.

Preview Geometry for Offline Synchronization

With version 6.1 of LiveLink™ for AutoCAD®, the Synchronize Offline window in the CAD software user interface now includes a button for previewing the geometry for the parameter combinations in the synchronization request file. This functionality offers a Build button, which automatically computes the design for the selected parameter value. You can use this button to view each design and check that valid geometries will be saved to the synchronization file.

The Requested Parameters Preview window inside the AutoCAD® user interface enables you to compute the design for the parameter values in a synchronization request file.

Simplifying Curves and Surfaces

The Import settings for 3D CAD files now include a Simplify curves and surfaces option that can be used to simplify the mathematical representation of the imported geometric entities. For example, spline curves can be converted to dedicated straight or circular curves. Importing objects with this option can improve the performance and reliability of downstream geometric operations.

Updated CAD File Import

The CAD file import functionality has been extended to support the most recent versions of the supported file formats. To see a current list of supported CAD file formats, please refer to the Read from File section of the CAD specification chart.
