From motor and driver to sound distribution

Loudspeakers are multiphysics in nature with electromagnetics, mechanical vibrations and acoustics as the main phenomena that describes the underlaying physics. In COMSOL Multiphysics® it is easy to setup a full vibro-electroacoustic model using the built-in multiphysics couplings.

To model all aspects of a loudspeaker, COMSOL Multiphysics® comes with several methods and modeling techniques:

  • Lumped (or Thiele-Small) speaker representation
  • Lumped elements extraction
  • FEM: Finite Element Method
  • BEM: Boundary Element Method
  • Ray tracing (with automatic source extracted from FEM)
  • Frequency domain for linear analysis
  • Time domain for linear and nonlinear analysis
  • Time explicit - Discontinues Gerlerkin

In this webinar, we will present why and how to use the different methods that are available in COMSOL Multiphysics®, and how to combine them to get the most efficient model setup.

You will also see how you can use the model for optimization to optimize the performance or to get new design ideas for the different parts.
