study strain energy due to external cyclic temperature load

Hello!

I am modeling a three-layered square-shaped sample, which is exposed to external cyclic temperature load. I am interested in the strain energy in the center material. How do I apply temperature load and what physics should be added? Will it be a stationary or time-dependent analysis?

Is there an example for such a case?

there are so many examples that I cannot really tell, I know about a thermal stress induced three layer one in the 3.5 doc, so it's most likelely also be in the v4, there they couple thermal stress at different temperatures for a process layered product.

one way is transient, but a series of stationary runs, to get the extreme stress (not the detailed history) can also do

in V4 I would say ST and HT should be enough.

Then the question remains: how do you define your fatigue curves from the cyclic extreme load cases ? There COMSOL does not really have the answer, it's too model dependent
